What could be more sophisticated than high tea?
This party theme is the perfect way to make a birthday or baby shower extra special – and truly spoil your guests with beautiful décor and delicious party food!
Today we’ve put together our tips for setting the perfect scene for a traditional English tea party with our lovely new Ditsy Floral party supplies. Read on for inspiration!
The first step of planning a traditional English tea party is choosing the perfect location!
If you’re planning a big event you may want to hire a party venue but setting up your own afternoon tea party at home would be just as lovely! This is the lower cost option if you’re partying on a budget and if you have good weather on the day, you could even take the tea party outside!
Next up is décor – and it goes without saying that bunting is essential for any traditional English tea party!
We’d suggest hanging this gorgeous Ditsy Floral bunting along the walls or behind your buffet table. And if you’re throwing your afternoon tea party outside, you could even drape it from fence to fence to cover the whole garden!
Or how about some pretty fan decorations? These Ditsy Floral fans mix modern and traditional with rose gold, florals and polka dots. And they’d look stunning hung in a cluster on the wall at your tea party!
English tea party decorations are all about florals – and we love this rose gold floral bunting that would look beautiful hung along the wall or draped across the table!
And don’t forget to add some real flowers into the mix!
The party food
Next up is party food – and most importantly, how to serve it!
Floral china plates and tea cups are ideal if you already have them but if you don’t, this lovely Ditsy Floral tableware is the perfect substitute!
Most tea parties revolve around finger food (sandwiches, cakes, etc) so make sure you’ve got some napkins on hand! We love these pretty Ditsy Floral ones – they’re the perfect combination of trendy rose gold and classic florals!
As for drinks, it goes without saying that you’ll probably be serving tea! But if you’re thinking of serving something else (fresh orange juice, Buck’s Fizz, etc) these lovely Ditsy Floral cups would be perfect! And you can just throw them away at the end of the party to save on washing up!
Don’t forget straws for your soft drinks either (but make sure they’re made of paper like these Ditsy Floral ones).
And that’s it! If you fancy throwing a vintage tea party just like this, you’ll find everything we used in our range of Ditsy Floral tea party supplies.
