Ahoy, me hearties! Today we’re inviting all you scallywags to the best pirate party across all the seven seas!
We have to admit we were pretty excited to put this party together. There’s SO much you can do with a pirate theme that honestly we struggled to fit everything in. So we’ve just focused on decorating ideas – the foundations of any party and the real chance to wow your guests.
Keep reading for all our ideas and inspiration and remember everything we used to create this party can be mixed and matched to create the look you want!
Let’s start with the obvious… table decorations! We started with a black tablecloth, white table runner and some basic pirate tableware and then built our decorations up from there.
We wanted a busy table with loads of interesting features to draw the eye in. This money bag looks great with gold chocolate coins spilling out – perfect as a little treat for the kids to snack on during the party!
Then we scattered some gold coin confetti, pirate chocolate and some party poppers around it to make it even fuller.
This treasure chest balloon weight was a nice little touch – as were the chocolate gold bars! Even the party poppers look like little cannons. Attention to detail will really make your party decorations something special.
Piñatas are a fabulous party activity but before you smash them up, they also look great as feature decorations. This treasure chest piñata would work great as a table centrepiece but you’ll be surprised how many other shapes and sizes piñatas come in – how about a pirate ship one?
If we could give you one tip, and one tip only, we’d say don’t forget to decorate your chairs! Chair decorations don’t need to be anything fancy but they can really help bring your whole theme together.
Check out some of our ideas for a pirate theme below – we put a white chair cover over each one and then cut a long strip of black organza and tied it round like a bandana (making sure the knot is at the side to give it a real pirate look).
Then we tied on a range of different pirate accessories like treasure maps, hooks, eye patches and medallions. We made each chair unique by tying different accessories to each one – and the guests can either wear them at the party or take them home in their party bag!
If you’re going to ask your guests to come in fancy dress, start off with a basic homemade pirate costume and then get them to customise it with whatever pirate accessories are left on their seat!
As for decorating your cupcakes, this can be done before the party or as a fun party activity, it’s completely up to you.
Here’s a little cheat – make it look like you’ve made your own cupcakes by popping some shop-bought ones into a cake case that fits your party theme 😉
And that’s it! We hope we’ve given you even pirate decorating ideas to get your party started.
