Who can forget the oompa loompas?
They’re Willy Wonka’s legendary factory workers from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and make a really quick and easy dress up idea for World Book Day or Dahlicious Dress Up Day.
It doesn’t take long to put this costume together and we’ve taken all our inspiration from our very own oompa loompa costumes (so if you want to cheat and buy a costume, we won’t tell!) Take a look at our top tips for dressing like an oompa loompa and if you try our ideas out yourself, make sure to send us some photos!
Easy oompa loompa costume ideas
Start your oompa loompa costume with a white pair of dungarees. Most people probably won’t own any so if you’re making your costume yourself, try a pair of white jeans with strips of white material for makeshift braces.
Next you’ll need a brown t-shirt. Long-sleeved is best but short-sleeved works fine too. If you’re making your costume yourself, you’ll probably have something suitable lying around at the back of your wardrobe.
Next it’s time to get the right hair! Oompa loompas are famous for their curly green locks so a wig like this one is key.
Orange face paint
Orange face paint like this will also help give you that glowing oompa loompa look. We’d recommend applying it with a make up sponge for an even spread of face paint.
And for extra attention to detail, you could even paint your eyebrows white with a lighter face paint. Then your oompa loompa fancy dress is ready to go!
