Read on for our simple step-by-step instructions and to find out how to make your unicorn cake look truly magical!
Unicorn piñata cake recipe
Ingredients for a four-layer sponge cake
- 440g unsalted butter
- 440g caster sugar
- 440g self-raising flour
- 8 medium eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp vanilla extract
- A little pink food colouring
- Rainbow drops
How to decorate your unicorn cake
Once you’ve made a four-layer sponge cake (and filled the middle with rainbow drops), it’s time to turn it into a unicorn! Start by making a batch of vanilla frosting and covering the cake with it (make sure it’s very smooth). Here’s what you need to make the frosting:
- 500g butter
- 1kg icing sugar
- 1tbsp vanilla extract
- Splash of milk
Next, use some black writing icing to draw on two eyes.
Next, take a unicorn party hat and pop it on top!
Finally, take your leftover frosting, dye it pink and use a piping bag to ice a mane on top of the unicorn’s head!
And voilà! Your unicorn piñata cake is finished!
