Halloween is just around the corner which means it’s the perfect time to start thinking about Halloween party décor and dinner party essentials. We all know that Halloween isn’t just for children. It’s also a great excuse to invite your friends or family over and throw a glamorous party for adults.
I love semi-formal dinner parties. They feel more intimate than casual gatherings and are perfect for showcasing your favourite recipes. Of course creating the prettiest tablescape is part of the fun too. I tend to work with one or two main colours and then I decorate the table with gold and/or silver accessories. I usually like to play with patterns too. The rose gold sequinned runner sets the mood for the dinner table and will not go unnoticed. I love a runner that’s beautifully layered over a table cloth, but they also look stunning on their own.
Black works very well with gold and whites and adds a bit of drama to a neutral table setting. I like to set the table with one or two statement pieces and the Skull Hand Goblet wine glasses will definitely get your guests into the Halloween spirit. They are a bit of fun, but they don’t overpower the dinner table because everything else is so elegant.
Now if you’re going for the stylish Halloween look, you’ll love the premium rose gold chevron dessert plates. Premium plates are handy because they are much more hard-wearing than paper plates and look like real china when set up. You can use them multiple times, but remember to always hand wash them (otherwise the gold will wear off). I placed white premium plastic plates with rose gold trim underneath the chevron plates to break up the pattern a bit. I love mixing different ranges and textures in order to create a less predictable look. The premium chevron napkins and the premium rose gold tumblers tie the look together, although don’t feel like everything has to match. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Mismatching is cool these days.
I love the mini trick or treat cups. You can use them to serve a small starter/amuse bouche or simply add some foliage to bring the outdoors in. I always make sure to place some real flowers on the table too. Just make sure your flower arrangement isn’t too high, so it’s not blocking eye contact with your guests.
Smoked salmon blinis (also known as Russian pancakes) are my favourite canapé. I love serving them before the guests get seated and place them in the middle of the table so people can help themselves. The black and gold fringe food picks not only look pretty, but they are very handy when you’re serving finger food.
The fright night drinks stirrers are ideal for cocktails. I love a champagne cocktail with a twist. Simply add your favourite fruit in the bottom of a glass and top with some champagne. And, don’t forget to stir!
Now it wouldn’t really feel like a proper dinner party without some cute place cards, right? I love the scripted marble place cards which are ideal for semi-formal dinner parties. You may think that place cards aren’t necessary when having a smallish dinner party, but I have always found them super helpful. It’s a great way to give some direction to your guests and I find that they complete the look.
I love a dinner party with some statement balloons. The haunted skull balloons can be paired with different colours and styles for the maximum effect. I mixed them with some black latex balloons and then I placed the gold foil letter balloons in the middle of the room to spell #BOO. I think it’s important to have a bit of fun with your décor even if you’re going for a glamourous Halloween look. Always remember to look at the measurements too before buying the balloons as the sizes vary a lot.
Don’t forget to decorate your bar cart or a side table as well. The Pick & Mix gold confetti balloons and the skull and raven table decoration are the perfect way to glam up any corner in the house. Do leave some cups and straws for your guests too so they can grab a drink when they feel like it.
And finally, if you’re planning to throw a dinner party your guests won’t soon forget, remember to send out the invitations well in advance. Invitations can set the tone for your dinner party and it’s also a great opportunity for you to remind your guests to dress up (if that’s what you want). The monochrome Halloween Party Invitations have got to be the cutest Halloween invitations I have ever seen!
