Celebrating St Patrick’s Day this year?
Follow our simple face paint tutorial to find out how to create this cute shamrock face paint design that’s perfect for any St Patrick’s Day party or night out!
We’ll guide you through each step of the design and show you exactly what you need – then it’s just up to you to pick out some matching St Patrick’s Day accessories and you’re good to go!
What you need:
Step 1 – Prep the face
Before you start your shamrock face paint design, it’s important to prep the face. Make sure it’s clean and dry to make sure the face paint sits right on your skin and if you like, you could apply a thin layer of foundation to give you a clear complexion that’s perfectly prepped for face painting.
Step 2 – Cover your eyelids with blue face paint
The next step is to paint your eyelids blue and at this stage you should decide whether you want the shamrock face paint on both sides of your face, or just on one side.
Step 3 – Start paint shamrocks
Next up, it’s time to start painting shamrocks. Start with one near the corner of your eye and paint in a sweeping motion to draw a stem (that can be used to link the shamrocks together). This is an easy design that doesn’t need to be followed to a tee so feel free to improvise as you go along!
Step 4 – Add detail
Once you’ve painted a couple of shamrocks, use a darker green face paint to draw an outline around each shamrock and use a white face paint to add dots and sweeping lines. We’d recommend using a thin face painting brush like this for this part. By now you’ll really see your St Patrick’s Day face paint taking shape!
Step 5 – Add some glitter!
Once you’ve painted most of your shamrock face paint design, it’s time to jazz it up with some green glitter! We’d recommend using green glitter gel like this as it makes it really easy to make the glitter stay in place.
And there you have it, your St Patrick’s Day shamrock face paint design is finished! Now just pick out some cheesy St Pat’s Day fancy dress accessories to complete your outfit and you’ll be ready to party like a true Irish man/woman!
