DIY party decorations are the perfect way to put your own stamp on your celebrations – and today we’re making this beautiful iridescent shell garland for a mermaid party!
We’ve even thrown in some free printables to help you keep the cost down. Read on to find out what to do!
What you need
- Our free printable shells
- Iridescent cellophane gift wrap
- Glue (preferably a Pritt stick)
- Cello tape
What to do
Start by downloading our free printable shells and before you cut anything out, cover each one in glue.
Next, take an A4 piece of iridescent cellophane gift wrap and stick it on top.
Then cut out as many shells as you need. We’d recommend putting the shells about 15cm apart on the garland so bear this in mind when you’re working out how many you need for the size garland you want to create.
When you’ve cut out your shells, they should look something like this! And now all that’s left to do is assemble your shell garland.
Take a long piece of ribbon and start sticking on your shells (about 15cm apart). You can do this with glue but it’ll be more secure with cello tape. Make sure the cello tape is stuck to the back of the shell so it’s not visible.
And there you have it!! Your DIY mermaid party decoration is finished! Make as many garlands as you need to decorate your venue and mix and match our mermaid and iridescent party supplies to set up the rest of your party.
