Be sure to keep an eye on those dinosaurs… you don’t want this to happen:

Baking dinosaur fossil footprint cookies with the kids

Ha… maybe it wasn’t a dinosaur… THAT was my 5yr old. To be honest, she did a great job of cracking the egg and MOST of it did go in the bowl. Yay to my 5yr old… but let’s begin.
Making Dinosaur Fossil Cookies for a Dinosaur Party

Place your flour, sugar and butter into a bowl and mix together – rub the butter against the flour.

Then add your egg and some vanilla essence and form a smooth dough. Remember to pre heat the oven to 180C and refrigerate your mixture for 20-30 minutes before the cookies go in the oven (especially if it’s a warm day).

Making Dinosaur Footprint Cookies

Make rough “patties” from your dough and place onto the baking tray – this is a great activity for kids, as it is easy for them to manage these “rough earth like cookies”.

Using your dinosaur’s feet, make the dinosaur footprints. Experiment with different dinosaurs. We also made some “single” prints for small cookies.

Make sure you make a nice deep print.

Then pop into the oven and bake for 10-15min – keep checking on them and remove once they’re a nice golden brown colour.
