How to throw a Christmas Jumper Day party

Put the date in your diary!

Christmas Jumper Day 2016 is on Friday 16th December. December is always a hectic month so put it in your calendar so you don’t forget about it!

Choose a donation amount

The money raised on Christmas Jumper Day helps save children’s lives all over the world, and the basic premise is you pay a pound or two to wear your Christmas jumper to work or school.

Keep the donation amount fairly small to encourage more participants – we’d recommend between 50p and £2. Extra donations are always welcome, of course!

Pick some Christmas jumper decorations

If you want to make your fundraising event extra special, you could plan a full on Christmas Jumper Day party! Think Christmas jumper decorations, party food and prizes for the best novelty knits.

Since Christmas Jumper Day is all about novelty knitwear, we started with our Christmas jumper party supplies. They’re perfect for ugly sweater parties and look super cute! Think napkins shaped like Christmas jumpers and plates covered in Christmas sweaters – just what you need for this cute, Christmassy party theme.

Ask for party food contributions

Party food is a great way to raise some extra cash. To maximise the amount of money you raise for Christmas Jumper Day, we’d recommend asking people to contribute towards the party food and then charge people £1 a plate. Let people know in advance whether they’re bringing sandwiches, cakes, sausages rolls, etc to make sure you have a good spread!

As for Christmas-themed party food, you could have a go at making Christmas jumper cookies if you’re feeling really creative. But if you fancy the easier option, we’d stick to classic Christmas snacks like mince pies, pigs in blankets and candy canes. As for drinks, mulled wine is a must!
