Making a cupcake bouquet – step by step

Before you start making your cupcake bouquet, you’ll need to choose a colour scheme. We chose white but pastel colours are also a lovely choice – just make sure the colour of your cupcakes matches or complements the colour of your plant pot. Once this is sorted, it’s time to start putting your cupcake bouquet together!

Step 1

First things first, take your green felt and start cutting out some leaves. How many you need will depend on the size of your plant pot but we’d recommend starting with about 30 and then cutting more out if you need to.

Once you have a batch of felt leaves, start sticking them onto the inside of your plant pot making sure they overlap each other slightly.

Step 2

The next step is easy –¬†put a polystyrene ball in the plant pot. There’s no need to glue it in place as long as it’s wedged in securely. Most craft shops should have a couple of different sizes so it’s not a bad idea to take your plant pot along with you to make sure you pick the right size.

Step 3

Next, push cocktail sticks into the polystyrene ball in the position where you want the cupcakes to go.

You’ll need two cocktail sticks per cupcake to make sure it can hold its weight. Don’t worry about being too accurate with the positioning of your cocktail sticks as you’ll probably need to adjust them slightly once you’ve started putting your cupcakes on.

Step 4

Next, stick a couple of leaves either side of each cupcake to transform it into a flower and push them onto the cocktail sticks.

You’ll really start to see your homemade cupcake bouquet taking shape now!
